Vladimir Putin Approves List of Orders Following Future Technologies Forum

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a list of orders following the Future Technologies Forum.

The second Future Technologies Forum, which focuses on future technologies in medicine, took place on 13–14 February 2024. The Forum was organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Russian Ministry of Health, Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency, the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Russian Quantum Centre.

Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session ‘Modern Medical Technologies. The Challenges of Tomorrow: Getting the Jump on Time’, met with scientists, and visited a special exhibition of advanced Russian medical technologies and developments.

The presidential orders included: measures to expand support for scientific research, the development of drug manufacturing technologies, the expansion of the network of national medical research centres, and the renovation of the facilities and resources of medical and scientific organizations. Particular attention was paid to payments to medical workers. The instructions also aim to expand support measures for the development of innovative medical products and technologies, as well as diagnostic platforms using artificial intelligence, and intensify international cooperation in matters concerning medical science and education.

By the end of 2024, Russia plans to launch two new projects: a national project to develop modern health-saving technologies and a federal project to improve the emergency medical care system. The corresponding orders to ensure their drafting and implementation were also included in the Russian president’s list of instructions following the Forum.

As the organizer of the Future Technologies Forum, the Roscongress Foundation needs to analyse and summarize the final materials of the Forum.

As part of preparations for the Future Technologies Forum in 2025, Putin gave orders to ensure the review of issues related to the creation and introduction of new generation materials to be used in various sectors of the economy.

The Future Technologies Forum is an annual flagship event that presents key promising technologies and innovative scientific developments that determine the trajectory of Russia’s future development. The Forum was held as part of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia, which was announced by a decree from the Russian president starting from 2022.
